Greenbush - The Southeast Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Special Day Program - Teacher in Leavenworth County Area

Job Summary: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: 

  1. Teaching license or those interested in teaching with a plan to obtain teaching license.
  2. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  3. Valid Kansas teaching licensure with applicable endorsement.
  4. Relevant teaching experience.
  5. Knowledge of relevant technology.
  6. Must be in good standing with partnering district(s) where program is located.

 Preferred:

  1. Special education endorsement.
  2. Applicable teaching level/area endorsements.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  2. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
  3. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  4. Prepare the classroom for class activities.
  5. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  6. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
  7. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  8. Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  9. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
  10. Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
  11. Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  12. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  13. Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development.
  14. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations.
  15. Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  16. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  17. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  18. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  19. Perform student support, counsel students with academic problems, and provide student encouragement.
  20. Participate in department, school meetings, and parent meetings.
  21. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  22. Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
  23. Responsible for the work output of other individuals in the classroom.

 

General Responsibilities:

  1. Must support the Service Center's mission, goals, and objectives.
  2. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  3. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  4. Must demonstrate proficiency in the ability to produce excellent work as requested by the executive team.
  5. Must assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  6. Must demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents.
  7. Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Supervisor.
  8. Must meet all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center.
  9. Must perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. Requires prolonged sitting and standing.
  3. Work in a noisy environment with many interruptions.
  4. May be exposed to Hepatitis B and/or other communicable diseases.
  5. Various locations require annual TB tests.
  6. Occasional lifting of students up to 1/3 of your body weight or a maximum of 40 lbs., and assisting with the lifting of students over 40 pounds.
  7. Occasional physical management and lifting of students as part of behavior management procedures.
  8. Occasional physical escorting of students requiring hands-on physical assistance, for a maximum of 200 yds.

The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1320 per contract year for tuition costs.
