Description

Greenbush - The Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Child and Adult Food Program Director at Russell Child Development Center in Southwest, KS.

Purpose Statement:  The job of CACFP Director was established for the purposes of developing, implementing and maintaining the agency’s food program in conformance with defined objectives; administering health and safety standards and verifying nutritional requirements; directing program operations including planning, staffing, budgeting and complying with established requirements;  providing program leadership and administrative oversight; providing support and/or conveying information; serving as a resource to other personnel, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors; communicating with a wide variety of internal and external groups and individuals; and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and codes. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in developing, communicating, implementing, and evaluating quality processes for the purpose of meeting established program guidelines (rules, regulations, standards, etc.).
  • Reviews child provider claims and conducts on-site visits for the purpose of ensuring healthful and sanitary conditions, proper meal planning and serving, and record keeping. 
  • Supervises and evaluates assigned personnel for the purposes of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and ensuring that standards and objectives are achieved. 
  • Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, transactions are recorded, and established fiscal practices are followed.
  • Collaborates with internal and external groups and partners (e.g. other agency program staff; community organizations and partners, auditors; regulatory agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing program components; creates long and short term plans; and addresses organizational objectives.
  • Facilitates and participates in meetings and trainings involving a range of issues (e.g. regulatory requirements, state and federal mandates, program implementation, requests from partners, interdepartmental needs, continuous improvement, conflict resolution, etc.) for the purpose of conveying/gaining information, developing recommendations, guiding and supporting agency staff, and/or representing the agency. 
  • Prepares a wide variety of materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Represents the agency across the service delivery area for the purpose providing information about programs, services and needs.
  • Maintains current knowledge (e.g. best practices, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations, financial resources, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and recommendations, and for ensuring compliance with established requirements and regulations, securing general information, and/or responding to requests.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the agency. 

 

Job Requirements—Minimum Qualifications:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade in order to meet changing job conditions.  Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  adhering to health and safety practices; adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; setting priorities; establishing and maintaining effective relationships; training, developing and supervising staff; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; working with frequent interruptions; and occasionally working extended or nonstandard hours.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; review and interpret technical information, compose a variety of documents; speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.  Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; bookkeeping principles; nutrition program management; current trends and practices within early childhood special education; personnel management; time management; and principles of conflict resolution.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meeting and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.  Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.  Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.  Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create actions plans.  Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate.  Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  adapting to changing work priorities; dealing with frequent interruptions; developing and maintaining positive working relationships; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; and setting priorities.

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include:  working independently under broad organizational policies to achieve program objectives; supervising designated staff; and monitoring budget expenditures.  Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job’s functions.  There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services. 

 

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:  some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
