Grenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Gifted Education Teacher.

Job Summary: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

 

Qualifications:

   Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  2. Valid Kansas teaching licensure with applicable endorsement or eligible for waiver / provisional
  3. Relevant teaching experience.
  4. Knowledge of relevant technology.

Preferred:

  1. Special education endorsement.
  2. Applicable teaching level/area endorsements.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences
  2. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate project based learning
  3. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
  4. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  5. Prepare classroom for class activities
  6. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  7. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  8. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  9. Use relevant technology to support instruction
  10. Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
  11. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
  12. Provide appropriate feedback on work
  13. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  14. Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  15. Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations
  16. Prepare required reports on students and activities
  17. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  18. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  19. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
  20. Perform student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
  21. Participate in department, school meetings, and parent meetings
  22. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  23. Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities

General Responsibilities:

  1. Must support the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (SEKESC) mission, goals, and objectives
  2. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  3. Must maintain strict confidentiality
  4. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to produce excellent work as requested by the executive team
  5. Must assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices
  6. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents
  7. Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Supervisor
  8. Must meet all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center
  9. Must perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or designee
  10. Must maintain consistent attendance

Physical Requirements:

  1. Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. Requires prolonged sitting and standing.
  3. Work in a noisy environment with many interruptions.
  4. Various locations require annual TB tests.

In addition to the benefit package, Greenbush recognizes the importance of continued education throughout an employee’s career and offers the Greenbush Education Reimbursement Plan to support employees in their education endeavors. The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1200 per contract year for tuition costs. Employees of Greenbush meeting the hour requirement can apply to participate in the program by completing the Tuition Reimbursement Application Form. In addition, Greenbush offers a Professional License Reimbursement Program, which provides full reimbursement for professional licenses with specific Kansas licensing authorities and other appropriate authorities (a complete list can be provided upon request).
