Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Secondary Teacher at Fairfax Learning Center in Kansas City, KS.

Job Summary:  The Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  2. Valid teaching certification/license at the secondary level. 
  3. This person must have an aptitude for working with professional staff along with students of various age groups. 
  4. Teacher will be proficient in verbal and written communication, principles of supervision and have knowledge of relevant technology. 
  5. In addition, he/she will be able to work with students of diverse needs.

  Preferred:

  1. A minimum of two years teaching experience preferred. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  2. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
  3. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  4. Prepare classroom for class activities.
  5. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  6. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
  7. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  8. Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  9. Observe and evaluate students performance and development.
  10. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
  11. Provide appropriate feedback on work and encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  12. Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development and update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations.
  13. Prepare required reports o students and activities.
  14. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  15. Perform student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement.
  16. Participate in department, school and parent meetings.
  17. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  18. Demonstrates ongoing professional growth and skill development and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
  19. Carry out other duties as assigned by the program director or designee.

 

  General Responsibilities:

  1. Must support the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (SEKESC) mission, goals, and objectives.
  2. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  3. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  4. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to produce excellent work as requested by the Executive team.
  5. Must assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  6. Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Executive Director/Supervisor.
  7. Meet all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.

 

Physical Requirements

  1. Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. Requires long periods of sitting and/or standing.
  3. Requires working on a computer for long periods of time.
  4. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  5. Less than 25% travel.
  6. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environment with numerous interruptions.

In addition to the benefit package, Greenbush recognizes the importance of continued education throughout an employee’s career and offers the Greenbush Education Reimbursement Plan to support employees in their education endeavors. The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1200 per contract year for tuition costs. Employees of Greenbush meeting the hour requirement can apply to participate in the program by completing the Tuition Reimbursement Application Form.
