Description

Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is searching for a highly motivated and responsible Administrative Assistant for the Greenbush KDOC education programs. This ideal candidate will be self-motivated, highly organized, have a strong understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, excellent communication skills, supportive of instructors and KDOC staff, and have a great work ethic with the ability to manage time effectively. This person is responsible for all aspects of office management.

Job Summary:  Provides office services by implementing procedures and policies and monitoring administrative projects. Will provide a wide range of administrative and office support activities to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization.

 

Qualifications:

  Required: 

  1. High school diploma or certificate of equivalency
  2. Knowledge of principles and practices of basic business office management
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  4. Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software
  5. Valid driver’s license
  6. Current on health immunizations

Preferred:

  1. Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities: 

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides daily office and clerical support for the efficient operation of the program.
  2. Ensures all activities conform to correctional facility & SEKESC guidelines.
  3. Communicates effectively and appropriately with all members of the KDOC facilities and SEKESC.
  4. Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  5. Handle requests for information and data.
  6. Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned. Remains flexible in daily routine.
  7. Creates, maintains, updates confidential files/information ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  8. Prepare various reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
  9. Attend general staff meetings.
  10. Maintain strict confidentiality of student and staff records.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Must support the Service Center mission, goals, objectives, and building level policies
  2. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  3. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to produce excellent work as requested by the executive team
  4. Must assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices
  5. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents
  6. Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Supervisor
  7. Must meet all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center
  8. Must perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. Occasional lifting of a maximum of 40 lbs.
  3. Work in a noisy and crowded environment with many interruptions.
  4. Requires occasional travel.
  5. May be exposed to Hepatitis B and/or other communicable diseases.

In addition to the benefit package, Greenbush recognizes the importance of continued education throughout an employee’s career and offers the Greenbush Education Reimbursement Plan to support employees in their education endeavors. The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1200 per contract year for tuition costs. Employees of Greenbush meeting the hour requirement can apply to participate in the program by completing the Tuition Reimbursement Application Form.
