Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Preschool Teacher at The Center in Pittsburg, KS.

 

Anticipated start date: October 14, 2019. Position will remain open until filled. Equal Opportunity Employer.

 

Job Summary:  Responsible for providing daily opportunities and experiences to enhance school readiness skills for all students enrolled in the preschool program.  Teachers will use early childhood developmentally appropriate practices to provide a high-quality learning environment.

 

Qualifications:

  Required: 

  1. Minimum of Bachelors degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education
  2. Kansas Certified Teacher (early childhood or elementary education)

Responsibilities: 

Essential Functions:

  1. Utilize a thematic approach to plan and incorporate daily and weekly activities based on developmentally appropriate practices.  The Creative Curriculum will be the curriculum used.
  2. Document all planned activities in yearly lesson plan curriculum guide.
  3. Engage children daily in activities that provide opportunities to enhance their social/emotional, cognitive, fine and gross motor skills and language developmental domains.
  4. Engage children daily in small group, large group and individual activities.
  5. Maintain a positive classroom approach and atmosphere with all children that promotes their individual abilities and strengths.
  6. Maintain, expand and enhance learning center (blocks, writing, dramatic play, arts, science, reading, etc) as guided by children’s evolving experiences. 
  7. Monitor student progress regularly and make quality, timely decisions regarding referrals for additional services.
  8. Communicate with parents of students on a regular basis via parent/teacher conferences, written notes, calls and/or classroom newsletters.
  9. Communicate regularly with building principal and Early Childhood Director regarding enrollment, approved expenditures, and developmental progress of students.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of all student/family information.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in recruiting children by securing applications for yearly enrollment.
  2. Must support the Service Center mission, goals, and objectives
  3. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  4. Must maintain strict confidentiality
  5. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to produce excellent work as requested by the executive team
  6. Must assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices
  7. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents
  8. Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Supervisor
  9. Must meet all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center
  10. Must perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or designee

Physical Requirements:

  1. Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
  3. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling turning, and reaching.
  4. Work in a noisy environment with many interruptions
  5. May be exposed to Hepatitis B and/or other communicable diseases.

In addition to the benefit package, Greenbush recognizes the importance of continued education throughout an employee’s career and offers the Greenbush Education Reimbursement Plan to support employees in their education endeavors. The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1200 per contract year for tuition costs. Employees of Greenbush meeting the hour requirement can apply to participate in the program by completing the Tuition Reimbursement Application Form. In addition, Greenbush offers a Professional License Reimbursement Program, which provides full reimbursement for professional licenses with specific Kansas licensing authorities and other appropriate authorities (a complete list can be provided upon request).
