Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Child and Adult Food Program Assistant at Russell Child Development Center in Garden City, KS.

Purpose Statement:  The job of CACFP Program Assistant was established for the purposes of assisting with developing, implementing and maintaining the agency’s food program in conformance with defined objectives; monitoring health and safety standards and verifying nutritional requirements; providing support and/or conveying information; and supporting compliance with policies, procedures and codes. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in developing, communicating, implementing, and evaluating quality processes for the purpose of meeting established program guidelines (rules, regulations, standards, etc.).
  • Reviews child provider claims and conducts on-site visits for the purpose of ensuring healthful and sanitary conditions, proper meal planning and serving, and record keeping. 
  • Keeps accurate records and assists in computing and filing monthly claims for reimbursement.
  • Assists in delivering information at meetings and trainings involving a range of issues for the purpose of conveying/gaining information, and/or representing the agency. 
  • Assists in the preparation of materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Maintains current knowledge (e.g. best practices, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, securing general information, and/or responding to requests.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the agency. 

 

Job Requirements—Minimum Qualifications:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade in order to meet changing job conditions.  Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  adhering to health and safety practices; adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; establishing and maintaining effective relationships; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; working with frequent interruptions; and occasionally working extended or nonstandard hours.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, understand and carry out written procedures, write routine documents, speak effectively and solve practical problems.  Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; nutrition program practices and procedures; current trends and practices within early childhood special education; time management; and principles of conflict resolution.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.  Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.  Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.  Problem solving is required to identify issues and create actions plans.  Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate.  Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  adapting to changing work priorities; developing and maintaining positive working relationships; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; and setting priorities.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:  some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
