Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Substitute Paraprofessional at Project PLUS in Topeka, KS.

Job Summary:  The Substitute Paraprofessional assists with the day-to-day educational instruction in the learning center under the supervision of hte site coordinator/designee. The paraprofessional aids in activities to assist students in gaining knowledge, developing skills and attaining education goals.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of high school diploma or certificate of equivalency.
  2. Must be flexible and available on short notice.

Responsibilities:

    Essential Functions:

  1. Reviews, reinforces and remediates skills previously addressed by a classroom teacher in individual or small group settings for the purpose of facilitating student achievement.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of designated curriculum for the purpose of effectively assisting in facilitating student achievement.
  3. Reinforces and supports student academic, social/emotional, and behavioral plans as designed by the certified teacher for the purpose of developing students' basic social/interpersonal/academic skills.
  4. Facilitate student social and cultural integration and language development.
  5. Assists classroom teacher with the preparation of instructional materials for the purpose of providing necessary materials to enhance learning activities.
  6. Provides instruction to students utilizing a variety of prescribed methodologies under the direction of a teacher or professional staff for the purpose of facilitating student achievement.
  7. Responds to emergencies (i.e. injured student, unsafe environments, etc) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  8. Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
  9. Understands and utilizes educational technologies, as appropriate, with students under the direction of a teacher for the purpose of facilitating student learning.
  10. Is reliable, punctual, completes duties promptly, and accurately.
  11. Maintain the facility or assigned area, to keep it clean and safe for students and staff.
  12. Work independently with minimum supervision when the site coordinator/designee is unavailable.

   General Responsibilities:

  1. Must support the Service Center mission, goals, and objectives.
  2. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  3. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  4. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to produce excellent work as requested by the executive team.
  5. Must assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  6. Must demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents.
  7. Must complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Supervisor
  8. Must meeting all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center.
  9. Must perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Manages all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. Requires long periods of sitting and standing
  3. Ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds.
  4. Work in a noisy environment with many interruptions.
  5. Occasional overnight travel.

In addition to the benefit package, Greenbush recognizes the importance of continued education throughout an employee’s career and offers the Greenbush Education Reimbursement Plan to support employees in their education endeavors. The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1200 per contract year for tuition costs. Employees of Greenbush meeting the hour requirement can apply to participate in the program by completing the Tuition Reimbursement Application Form.
