Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Restorative Practices Coordinator at Fairfax Learning Center.

Job Summary: The Restorative Practices Coordinator (RPC) is responsible for creating and implementing sustainable Restorative Practice systems at Fairfax Learning Center (FLC), as well as delivering restorative practices to improve outcomes for youth, staff and families. The RPC will provide school-wide trainings for staff and students. The RPC will provide restorative circle groups and additional mentoring and de-escalation support to individual students as needed.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Bachelors Degree in education or relevant field.
  2. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written and oral communication.
  3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students.
  4. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  5. Ability to use technology, i.e., internet, e-mail, Microsoft Word, Student Data Management Software.

Preferred:

  1. Previous experience in an educational field or experience in a related professional field.
  2. Previous experience in working with adolescent students in an alternative classroom environment or school.
  3. Experience facilitating restorative practice interventions with youth, families and adults.
  4. Experience providing direct services to multicultural high school students.
  5. Experience creating and implementing restorative practice systems within an institution.
  6. Trained in de-escalation techniques and healing engagement (trauma-informed best practices).

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Maintains communication with administrators, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action to meet the educational needs of students.
  2. Compiles data for statistical purposes and presents data on a regular basis.
  3. Maintains confidentiality regarding educational records.
  4. Assists Students and staff with registration and orientation.
  5. Implements restorative practice systems at FLC in collaboration with key personnel and FLC administration.
  6. Facilitate restorative practice interventions as needed to respond to emerging need.
  7. Provide ongoing restorative practice trainings to FLC staff members.
  8. Maintain program data collection requirements.
  9. Respond to conflicts as they occur in the building with de-escalation support as needed.
  10. Maintain a calming, restorative space for students to de-escalate and reflect following conflicts.
  11. Document restorative justice interventions and track impact over time through data collection and analysis.
  12. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and staff at FLC, as well as the community, families and relevant organizations leading Restorative Practice work.
  13. Engage parents in site-based restorative practices, including training and parent dialogue circles.
  14. Assist with parent conferences related to attendance and other academic concerns
  15. Adhere to school discipline procedures and code of conduct
  16. Assist with supervision of the school
  17. Assist in the operational needs of the school
  18. Assist with other duties as assigned by the Principal and Greenbush Central Administration.

General Functions:

  1. Support the Service Center mission, goals, and objectives.
  2. Maintain a neat and appropriate appearance
  3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  4. Demonstrate proficiency in ability to produce excellent work as requested by the executive team.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in ability to effectively and regularly communicate with Service Center employees and constituents.
  6. Complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Executive Director or designee.
  7. Meet all safety requirements as directed by the Service Center.
  8. Participate in staff development meetings to update skills and improve knowledge.

Physical Requirements

  1. Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.
  2. Requires long periods of sitting and standing.
  3. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  4. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.
