Description

Greenbush - The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Tiny-k Coordinator at Russell Child Development Center in the Southwest Kansas area.

Purpose Statement:  The job of Tiny-k Program Coordinator was established for the purposes of implementing and maintaining Early Childhood Special Education programs and services in conformance with defined objectives; providing program leadership and administrative oversight; providing support and/or conveying information; serving as a resource to other personnel, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors; maintaining adequate staffing to ensure that the objectives of programs and services are achieved within budget; communicating with a wide variety of internal and external groups and individuals; and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and codes. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates with a wide variety of internal and external groups and partners (e.g. community organizations and partners, regulatory agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing program components; creates long and short term plans; and addresses organizational objectives.
  • Assists in developing, communicating, implementing, and evaluating quality learning programs and processes for the purpose of meeting established guidelines and enhancing excellence, equality and equity for staff, children and families. 
  • Supervises and evaluates assigned personnel for the purposes of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and ensuring that standards and objectives are achieved. 
  • Facilitates and participates in meetings and trainings involving a range of issues (e.g. regulatory requirements, state mandates, grant proposals and program implementation, requests from partners, interdepartmental needs, continuous improvement, conflict resolution, etc.) for the purpose of conveying/gaining information, developing recommendations, guiding and supporting agency staff, and/or representing the agency. 
  • Facilitates communication among personnel, children, families and partners for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts. 
  • Seeks funding through competitive grants; local, state and federal governmental sources; fundraising activities; and collaborative efforts with other agencies and partners.
  • Provides professional and personal leadership for the purpose of promoting evidence-based professional growth within and outside the agency to assure quality programming, effectiveness, and continuous improvement. 
  • Prepares a wide variety of materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Represents the agency across the service delivery area for the purpose providing information about programs, services and needs.
  • Maintains current knowledge (e.g. best practices, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations, financial resources, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and recommendations, and for ensuring compliance with established requirements and regulations, securing general information, and/or responding to requests.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the agency. 

 

Job Requirements—Minimum Qualifications:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade in order to meet changing job conditions.  Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; setting priorities; establishing and maintaining effective relationships; training, developing and supervising staff; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; planning and managing multiple projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; working with frequent interruptions; and frequently working extended or nonstandard hours.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to review and interpret technical information, compose a variety of documents; speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.  Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; current trends and practices within early childhood special education; principles of employee development and management; project development; goal attainment; time management; and principles of conflict resolution.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meeting and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment.  Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.  Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.  Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create actions plans.  Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretations of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate.  Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:  adapting to changing work priorities; dealing with frequent and sustained interruptions; developing and maintaining positive working relationships; facilitating communication among persons with divergent positions; implementing change; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; providing direction and leadership; and setting priorities.

 

Responsibility

Responsibilities include:  working independently under broad organizational policies to achieve program objectives; supervising designated staff; and monitoring budget expenditures.  Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job’s functions.  There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services. 

 

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands:  some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.  Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1200 per contract year for tuition costs.
