BaSES/Project STAY - Greenbush is seeking applications for an Education Behavioral Consultant.

JOB SUMMARY: This expert level position includes working collaboratively with school teams to conduct functional behavior assessments, identify functions of behavior and recommend targeted interventions aimed to improve student-learning outcomes. The BaSES/Project STAY Education Behavior Consultant may also provide researched, evidence-based professional development to best meet the needs of all districts regarding student behavior.



Qualifications:

  • Possess a minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited university and hold a current and valid Kansas license/certification in special education, psychology, social work, administration or a related field of study.
  • A minimum of five years experience in the K-12 educational system supporting students who exhibit significant behavioral or mental health needs.  
  • Solid understanding of MTSS and tiered interventions as well as knowledge of how to develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIP) and individualized education programs (IEP), and how to assess the appropriateness of curriculum for children K-12 and make recommendations for appropriate curriculum adaptations/modifications when necessary.
  • Skills to articulate information about the continuum of Greenbush resources and supports to school.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Express knowledge of evidence-based best practices in implementing positive behavior intervention supports.
  • Ability to articulate specific tiered interventions to meet the needs of all learners through Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Ability to conduct observations and collect data to determine the function of targeted behaviors.
  • Provide recommendations in a variety of formats as a result of data collection and observation.
  • Knowledge of special education laws regarding the least restrictive environment, Kansas Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI) statutes and regulations, current trends/best practices in identifying and implementing student-centered instructional interventions, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), alignment of interventions to the IEP and BIP.
  • Assist school mental health providers in meeting the social-emotional needs of students and reducing the use of ESI.
  • Align services and supports with the social-emotional goals of the Kansas State Board of Education and the Kansas state standards for Emotional and Character Development (SECD) Standards.
  • Additional job duties include providing presentations to districts and assisting in the development of instructional materials for presentations. The BaSES/Project STAY Education Behavior Consultant will provide timely responses to requests for technical assistance, some of which may require extensive travel.

The plan provides an opportunity for any Greenbush employee working at least 1,004 hours per year to be reimbursed up to $1200 per contract year for tuition costs.
