Greenbush is currently seeking applications for an Academic Coordinator to work with an alternative learning program in Kansas City, KS for the 2018-2019 school year.
SUMMARY OF JOB: The Academic Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Administrator in the day-to-day needs of the Alternative Education program as well as the establishment of partnerships with community stakeholders designed to meet individual student needs. He/She will assist with promotion of program as well as related reports. He/She serves as an educational resource person for students.
QUALIFICATIONS: Educational licensure and experience as a school counselor, classroom teacher, or social worker preferred. This person must have an aptitude for working with professional staff along with high school students. The Academic Coordinator will be proficient in verbal and written communication, principles of supervision and have above average computer skills. In addition, he/she will be knowledgeable in broad curricular content areas and be able to work with students of diverse needs. Experience at the secondary or post-secondary level as an academic/career advisor preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
- Assists with evaluation of student transcripts and student course placements.
- Coordinates transcript evaluation process with District personnel
- Assists students and staff with registration, orientation and course selections.
- Develops an Individual Plan of Study (IPS) with each student upon entry to the program, and coordinates efforts to increase student attendance and academic progress.
- Meets with students on a regular basis and promotes a supportive relationship with each student and the staff of the Alternative Education program.
- Promote the program locally, such as attend chamber events, meet with community leaders, and local businesses, and recruit potential students for the Alternative Education program.
- Assists students by connecting with local community resources.
- Assist students with plans for post-secondary education and careers as well as with college financial aid planning.
- Attend required inservices.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward all students, staff, and parents by showing respect for the worth and dignity of each student.
- Support the philosophy, mission, and policies of the SEKESC.
- Prepare timely reports of students’ academic progress throughout the year.
- Is reliable, punctual; completes duties promptly, accurately, and according to time lines.
